Remote External Colour Selection.

Updated: Apr 28

Not so long ago I had a call from Dave Bundle, Painter & Decorator and his trusty apprentice Olivia.

The conversation started with, "we're on a job in Trafalgar, Victoria and the client needs your help".

The brief: it's a rural property and the transformation has already begun on the building's external to the house. Horse stables in "Monument", sheds in "Basalt" and "Merbau" fencing.

Once the painting had commenced on the external building's it was evident there was no connection to the family home.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, I excitedly took the project on.

My role was to come up with a colour scheme that tied the whole property together without losing the beauty and character of the home itself, whilst being sensitive to the client's hesitancy in change.

Working remotely has it's, challenge's however, working with Dave and Olivia followed up with telephone conversations with the client, we created a home cohesive to the external elements, sits beautifully in the environment and allows the original features and character of the home to shine.

The concept we kept simple, "Shale Grey" roof, "Monument", gutters, fascia, posts and garage door.

Looking through the before and after photos you will notice how the property has a cohesive look overall.

When it comes to the house you will see how painting the posts "Monument" allows you to see past them and your eyes are drawn to the original features and character of the home enhancing its beauty.

The garden is also a great feature. I can't take credit for that, those of you that know me personally, are aware of the fact the only plant I can keep alive, and thriving is that of the artificial kind 🤣
