A little more about me and what you can expect to find in my future blogs.
I grew up in a small town in country Victoria. At the ripe old age of 21, my friend and I set off to explore this beautiful country of ours in a VW Combi van.
We had a whole lot of fun, travelling up the East Coast, and across to the Northern Territory. We worked in hospitality and admin jobs in different towns along the way. We saw some amazing sites, experienced many things and met some great characters / friends along the way.
I eventually made my way to Perth, Western Australia, where I was to meet my now husband of 26 years. We married in Mauritius and returned to Perth to start our new life together. What a year that was, married, first child born, and we bought our first block of land and built our first home in a little suburb called Jane Brook.
Fast forward, a few years a couple more kids and we made the decision to move back over to the East Coast where we made the Sunshine Coast Hinterland our home. Oh, did I mention our youngest was born right here on the Coast, yes you read that right, we are the very proud parents of four kind, funny and beautiful human beings.
Being a stay at home Mum, having next to no free time on my hands, I knew I wanted to embark on my next chapter once the kids were all at school. I studied Interior Design part time from home and successfully completed a Certificate IV In Design in 2010. I then went on to study and successfully complete a Certificate IV in Residential Drafting at Tafe in 2011.
After my studies, I was fortunate in gaining employment in a retail flooring shop, where I was able to utilise my customer service skills and gain extensive knowledge in the floor covering industry. During my employment I was also given the opportunity to utilise my design skills by conducting interior colour selections for new homeowners.
Outside my employment, I was helping others with selections for their mini makeovers and more extensive renovations which then led to styling their properties prior to sale.
After 10 years in the flooring industry, I made the decision to again embark on a new journey and that's when "In Style & Colour" was formed. I now operate my business full time and offer Interior Design, Styling & Colour Consultancy services. I work with new home builders and renovators to help them create a home that reflects their personality at the same time as being functional for their needs and lifestyle. I love what I do and get a real buzz out of sharing my experience, knowledge and skills with others to create their homes.
